On the 22nd of August, Thursday, Hope for Women participated in Democracy House’s workshop to validate the findings of the Domestic Violence Act review. Various stake holders from both government bodies and NGOs participated in this workshop.
The objectives of the legal review was to identify overlaps, legal conflicts and gaps both within the act and with the justice system as a whole and to identify institutional constraints in the practical implementation of the act. The goal was also to provide recommendations on addressing the identified findings, and to offer a systematic monitoring mechanism to monitor the implementation of laws addressing cases of DV.
The workshop was an interactive one including input from the participants, which will also be incorporated into the draft report of the Legal Review.
